More Troops: And we have a decision!

Daisy GameI have to admit that I had to write a small script in order to figure out how many days had passed since General McChrystal asked for troops (August 30th) until he finally got a decision (December 1st): 93 days.

It took the commander in chief, the person who is supposedly in charge of troops during war time, 93 days to make a decision on whether or not to send more troops.

Of course Obama leaked the info last Wednesday (11/25) saying:

“After eight years, some of those years in which we did not have, I think, either the resources or the strategy to get the job done, it is my intention to finish the job,” Obama said at a news conference following his meeting with the prime minister of India, Manmohan Singh. “And I feel very confident that when the American people hear a clear rationale for what we're doing there and how we intend to achieve our goals, they will be supportive.”

This guy is a manipulator. He throws out "I'm confident that the American people will be supportive" six days before he announces his rationale. So people are primed and ready to support his not bold, not swift, and not decisive move.

McChrystal asked for 40,000 troops, he's going to get 90% of that number. Maybe we can win 90% of the war?

And, in line with this bold, swift, and decisive move, the troops won't actually get there until the end of 2010.
